I was just reading about Chevrolet’s entry into the Monte Carlo Alternative Energy Rally.  Both stories insist that “the winner won’t necessarily be the competitor who arrives first.”  Then why does Tesla Motors have two trophies for first places finishes?  For that matter why give out a trophy at all?  Of course it matters who finishes first.  Finishing first in your category means you’ve achieved a balance between performance and fuel consumption.  Finishing first means you get more money to develop a better car.
